This explains what we collect, why, and who else touches it — in plain language. It covers The Check-in Guide at thecheckinguide.com and the account you use to build and download your welcome books.
Three things. Account details — the email address you sign up with. Book content — the listing link you paste, the answers you give us, and the public details we read from that listing, such as photos, amenities and house rules. Usage data — basic analytics about how you move through the site, plus standard technical logs like your browser type and approximate location from your IP address.
We do not collect or store your card details. Payment is handled entirely on our payment provider's own checkout (see below).
Only to run the product: to create and deliver your welcome book, keep it available in your account, handle revisions and support, take payment, and understand which parts of the site are useful so we can improve them. We may email you about your order or account. We do not sell your data or share it for anyone else's advertising.
We use a small set of trusted services to run The Check-in Guide. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:
· Supabase — hosts your account and stores your books (secured with row-level access controls).
· Kelviq — processes payments on its own hosted checkout. It handles your card details; we never see them.
· Anthropic (Claude) — helps draft the copy in your book from the answers you provide.
· Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — measure site usage and performance.
Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. We only work with providers that offer appropriate safeguards for that transfer. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
We keep your account and books for as long as your account is active, so you can re-download and revise them. Delete your account and we remove the data tied to it, except records we're legally required to keep (such as basic transaction records for tax and accounting).
We use cookies and similar tools for sign-in and for the analytics named above. You can block analytics with any standard ad or tracking blocker, or through your browser settings, without affecting your ability to build a book.
You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your data, or to stop using it, at any time. Email us and we'll take care of it, usually within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled a request, you can also raise it with your local data-protection authority.
Data is encrypted in transit, access to your books is restricted to your own account, and we limit who on our side can reach personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.
The Check-in Guide is for hosts and isn't intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email.
